My Quigley 4x4 E-350 Super Duty back to Home or back to Who I am and What I Do
![]() This is the current state of my van.
I custom made the "Running Logs" and Steel Mounting brackets,
installed 285/75 R16 tires, and an extra drivers side window as well.
My van is equipped with the 415cid (6.8L) V-10 Gas engine. I was skeptical
of what I thought would be a "Gas Hog", but have been extremely pleased
with every aspect of this power plant. Compared to the added expense of
a diesel (like about $6000!), and the added fuel cost, my V-10 is fantastic.
It will supply you with all the power you need, when you need it, and is geared
down so that when you don't need all that "shnoosh", it is barely working!
I recently returned from a 3000 mile trip, I average 12.5 MPG at an average
speed of 65 for the entire trip. On my final return leg home of about 600 miles,
I was loaded with over 2500 lbs of cargo (that's over 9000 lbs gross) doing all
highway speeds of about 65-75 MPH, obtained 12.35 MPG and still had 3/4
of my gas pedal under my foot to pass anything I wanted, even at 75 MPH!!!!
I truly love my "Quite, Smooth, and Economical" 415 V-10.
